What do you think of the course plan? Is the course plan different from what you expected or what you are used to? Would you prefer if the course focused on advanced conversation rather than public speaking? Would you rather have little homework but spend class time doing tasks that could be done outside of class, or have more homework but spend class time doing only tasks that cannot be done outside of class? Is there anything you would like to change or add to the course plan?

// rules

. Turn off your mobile phones during class.
. Keep Chinese to an absolute minimum.
. No leaves of absence.
. Being late counts against attendance.

Do you think these rules are reasonable? Are there any that you disagree with? Are there any rules that you would like to add?

// grading

Attendance = 50% | Group speech projects = 25% | Individual speech project = 25%

Example: Student A is in class for 1320 minutes out of the total 1440. That’s an attendance score of (1320/1440)(50)=46. She does well during group speech projects, and gets 20 out of 25. Her individual speech project is excellent, so she gets 25 out of 25. So her grade for the course would be 46+20+25=91.

What do you think of this grading system? Do you think Max should also consider how good a student’s English is in determining her grade? Is there anything you would like to change about the grading system?
